Arcanum 4 in a destiny matrix chart
Twelve of the thirteen drawn positions can hold a 4. The thirteenth cannot, and the reason is a small piece of algebra rather than a rule anyone chose. This page shows where the 4s come from, which door into the figure is narrowest, and which dates manage four of them at once.
One position is closed to a 4
The inner point this chart labels Task is the centre added to the fourth point of the upright square. Because a digit sum leaves a number’s remainder on division by nine untouched, and the centre carries twice the remainder of that fourth point, the task point always comes out a multiple of three. Across all 46,386 dates from 1900 to 2026 it takes seven values and no others: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21. A 4 is never among them.
Elsewhere a 4 is ordinary. The day point is 4 on the 4th and on the 31st, which folds to 3 + 1 = 4. The year point is 4 for 2002, 2011 and 2020. The narrowest door is the health point, which takes a 4 on 296 dates in the range. Altogether a 4 appears in 38.21 per cent of charts.
What the tradition attaches to a 4
Schools reading this method treat 4 as the number of structure: four sides, a frame, something that holds its shape. Teachers put it as order, or as the built thing rather than the building of it, or as steadiness. The phrasings overlap without matching each other.
Whichever phrasing a school prefers, it is attached afterwards. The chart itself does two things and stops: it adds, and it folds any total above 22. Everything past that point is interpretation, from a tradition that took its current form in Russian-language numerology teaching during the 2010s. A reader who wants to test the method can test the sums. The sentences hung on the sums are not the kind of thing that can be tested at all.
22 January 1939, and four 4s at once
The most 4s a chart holds is four, and the dates that manage it are exact. Take 22 January 1939. The day point is 22, left alone because 22 is where the scale stops. The month point is 1. The year adds to 1 + 9 + 3 + 9 = 22 and also stands.
The fourth point of the upright square is 22 + 1 + 22 = 45, folding to 4 + 5 = 9, and the centre is 45 + 9 = 54, folding to 9 as well. From there four positions land on 4 together: the money point at 22 + 9 = 31, folding to 3 + 1 = 4; the spirituality point at the same 22 + 9 = 31; and two inner points at 9 + 22 = 31 as well.
The pattern repeats on 22 January and 22 October of 1948, 1957, 1966, 1975, 1984 and 1993.
Questions about the number 4
- Why can the task position never be a 4?
- Because that position is always a multiple of three. Folding a number by adding its digits leaves its remainder on division by nine unchanged, and the chain that builds the task point triples that remainder. Only 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21 come out of it.
- I was born on the 31st and my day point is a 4 — why?
- Days above the top of the scale are folded, and 31 gives 3 + 1 = 4. Seven months have a 31st, so a good many dates are routed onto the same day point as the 4th of a month. The fold throws away which of the two it started from.
- Does a 4 in the health position say anything about health?
- No. That is a position name the schools attach to one inner point of the figure, and this page makes no claim about anyone’s body. A 4 lands there on 296 dates out of 46,386, which is a statement about sums and nothing else.
